'Fixer Upper' Baby Brings Out the Trolls

When you see the social-media reaction to Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines' recent pregnancy announcement, you can understand why the couple wanted to end their series and get away from the spotlight. When Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines revealed on that they’re expecting their fifth child, the couple never could have predicted the backlash. Baby news after all, is a happy thing. Right? And yet Facebook was flooded with nasty comments.

I like them ok but enough with the kids already. Their own children begged them not to have any more children on a previous episode already+overpopulation= 😶,” wrote one troll. Added another: “Thank you for contributing to the over population of the planet. I hope this one will be your last and you will use wiser judgement.”

Others accused the HGTV celebrities of having another kid to save their marriage. After the couple announced that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be the last, rumors began to swirl that they were pulling the plug due to relationship problems.

But Chip, 43, set the record straight during an October appearance on Today when he explained the decision was motivated by their desire to spend more time with children Drake, 12, Ella, 11, Duke, 9 and Emmie Kay, 7.

“The ‘We’re back together sex kid’ never fixes a marriage. Just means one more kid, the marriage is still broken, and now the kid has to do pay for broken marriage sex,” one person commented. Another chimed in: “Having a baby won’t make you better.”
