First Looks: Stills From The Seventh Series Of 'Doctor Who'

First Looks: Stills From The Seventh Series Of 'Doctor Who' The Doctor rides a dinosaur.

That this is actually a thing heralds, depending on how you feel about Steven Moffat's "Doctor Who" approach, either the most awesome or head-slappingly ridiculous thing ever.

Unfortunately, there's really no telling which right now. While Nerdist has generously graced the Internet without an eye-candy spread of stills left by the BBC Fairy following tonight's U.K. gala premiere of this fall's seventh-series premiere, the isolated moments from the first five episodes aren't accompanied by video.

That's not to say that the handsome, chilling cinema-style poster for the season's first episode, "Asylum of the Daleks," isn't appreciated.

Admittedly, any of these could - and probably will, in many cases - make for some stunning desktop themes. That goes doubly so for that picture below of The Doctor (Matt Smith, in his third season as The Eleventh Doctor) standing before what has to be the most Daleks ever crammed into a single frame.

Good on Nerdist, too, for pointing out that there's nary a "Skittles Dalek" to be found among the more austere, more threatening Series 1-4 models.

Elsewhere, it looks like The Doctor will be taking Amy Pond (the soon-departing Karen Gillian) and husband Rory (the also-departing Arthur Darvill) on a walk with the Egyptians and through the Old West before reaching another parting of the ways with his companions.

Oh, and just in case this went amiss....yeah, The Doctor rides a dinosaur. Maybe it's silly. Maybe it's awesome. Maybe it's just awesomely silly.

What-the-Hell-ever. It's The Doctor. Period. In a way, even when "Doctor Who" is bad, a "bad" episode of "Doctor Who" beats the bejeezus out of a "good" night on many other shows.

In all likelihood, "Doctor Who" premieres on BBC America sometime circa Sept. 1.
