First 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Teaser Trailer Promises You Visions of the Future
by Andy NeuenschwanderThe first "Game of Thrones" season 5 trailer is here! Kind of.
The teaser trailer is a short one, and doesn't feature any new footage from the upcoming fifth season of the hit HBO show. It does, however, present a bit of a mystery to fans.
In the video, we see some footage from the fourth season, mostly of Arya on her way to breaking free of The Hound and setting off for Braavos. Behind the images is the voice of Melisandre saying, "I see a darkness in you."
Then, the video points fans to the wesbite ThreeEyedRaven.com, where users can choose to receive the gift of "The Sight" by either Twitter or text message.
This all points back to Bran's storyline in the most recent season, which had him finding the Three Eyed Raven in search of answers about his prophetic visions. Presumably, when users choose their "Sight," they'll get visions of the future too...probably some screenshots or short trailers teasing the new "Game of Thrones" season.
Interestingly, Bran's storyline in season 4 actually takes place much later in the books, so the show has already reached the end of Bran's story in terms of what has been written by George R.R. Martin thus far. Bran and Hodor are rumored to not be appearing at all in season 5, so it's strange that the first bit of marketing from the show would focus on the Three Eyed Raven. Perhaps we're meant to be seeing the other characters' fates through the eyes of Bran with this campaign.
