Finally, Good News for 'Community': All Three Seasons Coming to Hulu

Finally, Good News for 'Community': All Three Seasons Coming to Hulu As much as we'd love this story to be all about how NBC has realized the obvious error of their ways, axed the ratings flop "Whitney" and removed the ridiculous "midseason hiatus" label from genius-level comedy show "Community," it's not.

We do have good news, though, for "Community" fans. All three seasons of the critically acclaimed, award-winning comedy will be streaming on Hulu and Hulu Plus starting right away.

Hulu announced today that it had lined up an exclusive deal to stream the show in its entirety from the first episode of the first season. According to TheWrap, new shows (if/when they appear on NBC in the future) will also stream the next day after they've been aired on Hulu Plus.

So why does Hulu find value in a show that NBC clearly doesn't care about? Turns out it's a little something called "listening to their customers."

Hulu reps specifically mentioned that its users consistently rank the comedy at the top of the list in its "Best in Show" competition. They also recognize something relatively obvious to those who follow the entertainment world - the "large contingency of die-hard 'Community' fans out there" are also crazy social, and willing to talk about the show with their friends online. Turns out Hulu's into that kind of thing.

"Hulu is all about finding a specific show that we know will resonate with a specific audience segment on Hulu," said the company in a release.

"We want to create a place where 'Community' fans can watch the show and share your favorite hilarious moments with your friends using Hulu's social features like Facebook Connect and the Hulu app on Facebook," said Hulu reps.

As more "cord-cutters" and "never-cords" get their entertainment exclusively online, even eschewing the purchase of televisions in favor of a better laptop viewing experience, you have to wonder what will become of those traditional networks who seem increasingly out of touch with the tastes and desires of their viewers.

Even more interesting is considering how companies like Hulu could make paradigm-shifting leaps and bounds by giving viewers what they ask for in the resulting vacuum. Let's hope this pushes NBC to come to their senses and bring "Community" back onto the air full-time where it belongs.
