The Fight Between Jay Z and Solange Knowles - Was it Faked?
by Shannon KeirnanHave we all been fooled?
The elevator fight between Beyonce's husband Jay Z and sister Solange Knowles blew up the Internet when it hit, but now Mathew Knowles, the father of Beyonce and Solange, says it was just for show.
The footage, leaked (or was it?) from a closed circuit camera, shows Solange attacking and kicking at her brother-in-law, who stands quietly until Solange is restrained. The footage, which seemed to take place shortly after the Met Gala after party, promoted further rumors that Jay Z was cheating on his wife, and that his flirtatious words to the ladies at the Gala had spurred Solange into a protective rage.
Spokespeople for the trio called it an "unfortunate incident" and a "family matter," but otherwise kept mum.
Now Papa Knowles has addressed the controversy on a radio show, where he says it was all to bring in that extra dough.
"[They needed something] to ignite that tour," he says, referring to Beyonce and Jay Z's mutual On The Run tour. "It's called a 'Jedi mind trick.' The Jedi Mind trick fools you a lot of the time."
"All I know is: everyone is talking about it. Ticket sales went up, Solange's album sales went up 200%," he added.
Mathew Knowles, it should be noted, managed daughter Beyonce when she first hit the market as a talented singer. However, the two haven't been exactly buddy-buddy as of late. In 2011, she fired him as her manager, not long after mom Tina filed divorce papers and claimed Mathew had been having an affair.
So, just because he says it doesn't mean it's true... but it's certainly something to consider, isn't it?
What do you think - was the fight staged for publicity?
