'Fifty Shades of Grey' Sequels Confirmed; All Three Movies Will Play on Imax Screens

"Fifty Shades of Grey" hasn't even hit theaters in wide release yet, but the studio is already giving the movie a show of support.

"Fifty Shades" director Sam Taylor-Johnson told crowds in preview screenings over the weekend that both of the book sequels—Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed—will also be adapted into movies.

That's not a huge surprise considering how much buzz the first "Fifty Shades" is getting pre-release. The fan base is already built in, seeing as the books were some of the best-selling titles ever released. Plus, it's not too rare these days for studios to commit to a sequel before the first movie is even released based on pre-premiere box office estimates.

There's more good news for fans: Imax has partnered with the film, inking a deal just days before the wide release this Friday. As a result, fans will be able to go see "Fifty Shades of Grey" on one of 75 Imax screens across the country.

"This morning we decided to pick up 75 runs of Fifty Shades of Grey," said Imax CEO Greg Foster. "We're doing it literally at the last moment. We'll be part of it and get some of the walk-up business."

"Fifty Shades" is new territory for Imax, which usually gravitates toward summer blockbusters and other films with big action. But if "Fifty Shades" fills seats, we could see more titles that aren't necessarily action-packed...unless you're talking about the particular kind of action that "Fifty Shades" has.
