'Fast & Furious 7' On Hold After Walker's Death
by EGThe death of actor Paul Walker in a car crash last week has jeopardized the production of "Fast & Furious 7." Producers of the film, which is in the middle of shooting, are determined to finish the project, but precisely how they'll cope with the loss of the actor is unclear at this point.
CNN reports that producers are reviewing footage that Walker had already shot to see if they can use any of it, and they're deciding how to proceed with rewriting the movie's script, the original version of which had depended heavily on Walker's character and scenes that had not yet been shot. CNN's source claims that even CGI may be used to supplement Walker's footage so that the film can be completed.
The film's production was already behind schedule, and a rewrite that removes Walker's character entirely from the story—and the reshoots that such a rewrite would require—would no doubt be extremely costly. Production on the project has been shut down as its producers consider their options.
Walker died last Saturday when the Porsche Carrera GT in which he was a passenger crashed and burst into flames in a one-car accident. Also killed in the accident was the driver of the car, Walker's friend Roger Rodas.
