Farewell, Amy Pond: Trailer For Seventh Season Of BBC's 'Doctor Who'

Farewell, Amy Pond: Trailer For Seventh Season Of BBC's 'Doctor Who' (WARNING: The following does contain a spoiler for the upcoming seventh series of "Doctor Who." True, it's been out there online for a while, but if you don't want to know, just skip directly down to the trailer.)

Matt Smith's future as The Eleventh Doctor of the BBC's wildly successful "Doctor Who" beyond the reboot's seventh series has sounded uncertain this past year. One thing is definitely certain: the TARDIS will have a couple vacancies about a quarter into this coming series.

OK, and judging from today's debuting Series Seven trailer, let's throw in one more certainty: HOLY CRAP, ALL OF THE DALEKS.

Back to the confirmed departures first, though: as that handsome banner artwork to the right subtley belies, this is it for The Doctor's married companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillian) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill.) However, it's a tad deceptive. It's been leaked that it won't be The Doctor's enduring blood-feud with the Daleks that catches the couple in the crossfire, but a rematch with the unsettling Weeping Angels five episodes into this run.

In the meantime, what exactly awaits The Doctor? Dinosaurs. An arena filled with Daleks, and The Doctor basically telling them "Try something - PLEASE!" Two hulking robots that are "very cross with him." Oh, and The Doctor's smirking "wife," River Song.

But back to Smith.

In October 2011, Smith claimed the 2012-2013 series would be his last. Then again, at March's Doctor Who Convention in Cardiff, Wales, he sounded much more ambiguous when addressing The Huffington Post.

"I mean, look, we've got the [50th] anniversary coming up, there's another Christmas special to shoot, we've got another season with our new compantion coming in, there's a lot to be getting on with before I leave, so . . . I'm here for the foreseeable future."
