Fans Campaign to Cast Amy Schumer as the Next 'Bachelorette'
by Shannon KeirnanHIlariously raunchy comedienne Amy Schumer, an open fan of "The Bachelorette," was invited to be on Monday's episode of the romantically driven reality show.
The "Inside Amy Schumer" star angled to help bachelors win the heart of Kaitlyn Bristowe through good old fashioned laughter by teaching them a stand-up comedy class.
Like every good dating program, this season's "Bachelorette" features a much-reviled character named J.J., an unemployed single dad who informed Schumer that he feels like he's "too smart for like, 90% of the audience."
"J.J.'s a sweetheart," Schumer later deadpanned to the camera. "He's just missing like, charisma and humility and a sense of humor."
She added hopefully, "Maybe when he sees the show he'll reflect a little on himself and not be such a turd."
Maybe. Maybe not. Since then J.J. has, at least, added "Amy Schumer called me a turd" to his list of credentials on his Twitter account.
Schumer's appearance brought a surge of fan support to cast Schumer herself as the next "Bachelorette."
Even "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" creator Mike Fleiss was on board with this campaign, creating a #draftAmy hashtag to encourage social media support of the idea by tweeting, "@amyschumer for next season's Bachelorette. Big time TV/movie stars are a dime a dozen! C'mon, Amy! #draftAmy."
The concept took off, with tons of support for #draftAmy, while others support, at minimum, allowing Amy to remain on the show to offer commentary.
What do you think? Should the foul-mouthed blonde take down cocky suitors on next season's "Bachelorette?"
