Fan-Made 'Star Wars' Anime Is Incredible - Watch Now!

There's no shortage of fan-made "Star Wars" short films out there, but this is one of the most impressive ones we've seen yet.

"TIE Fighter" is a short film created practically single-handedly by a die-hard "Star Wars" fan who also happens to love the 80's anime style in movies like "Akira" that influenced American animation so heavily at the time.

The result is a nearly eight-minute-long animated TIE fighter battle in the 80's anime style that is as nostalgic as it is awesome. There are even some references to the classic TIE Fighter video game in there!

The video was created by Paul Johnson, aka OtaKing77077, and it took him "over 4 years' worth of weekends" to animate the whole thing. He thanked Lucasfilm for their generous creative license given to fans: "Special thanks to the good folk at Lucasfilm for encouraging people to get creative and make these kind of projects," he wrote. "It's thanks to their extremely fan-friendly nature that we can enjoy IMPS: The Relentless, TROOPS, etc."

The animator also noted that he doesn't have a Kickstarter, or Patreon, or any other account where you can donate for this project or future ones. "Instead," he wrote, "if you enjoyed this, give someone at your workplace, uni, school or whatever a random bar of chocolate or can or Coke or something. Seriously, it'll probably make their day."
