A Fan-Favorite Character Returns in 'American Horror Story: Freak Show!' She's back!

Naomi Grossman will be reprising her character from "American Horror Story: Asylum" in the upcoming "Freak Show."

That's right, fans! Pepper will return!

Actually, "Freak Show" occurs in the time before "Asylum," so the storyline surrounding Pepper will lead up to what we already know about the character.

Show creator Ryan Murphy explained that we will learn "what happened to Pepper [in the 12 years] before she went to the asylum."

This will be the first time in the series where a character reappears as themselves.

"We thought about [bringing back Pepper] long and hard and we decided that it was interesting to do," said Murphy.

Jessica Lange will be playing German expatriate and former cabaret dancer Elsa Mars, who runs (and attempts to keep above water) a failing freak show in Jupiter, Florida in the 1950's.

"What Elsa has done for 20 years is she goes around to hospitals and jails and rescues these 'freak' circus performers who are going to be shipped away to asylums and she signs the waivers and becomes their guardians," Murphy explained.

Of Elsa, Lange has said, "My character is very manipulative. She understands what's needed and she provides it. However... I want to be very clear that Elsa really loves these people. She truly cares for them in her own selfish narcissistic way. It's not just exploitation."

"Freak Show" will also bring back fan favorites like Kathy Bates and Sarah Paulson in new roles.

Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Denis O'Hare, Gabourey Sidibi, Emma Roberts, and Evan Peters will also appear.

Meanwhile, John Caroll Lynch plays Twisty, the clown from your nightmares, whose murdering ways set off the season.

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" premieres on FX October 8th. Will you be watching?
