'Family Guy': Watch Brian and Stewie Celebrate About 9/11

'Family Guy': Watch Brian and Stewie Celebrate About 9/11 Even when "Family Guy" comes up with a fun, innovative episode that once again makes the show fresh and funny, they still can't resist pushing the envelope a bit.

In Sunday's episode, titled "Back to the Pilot," Brian and Stewie take a trip back in time to 1999 and find themselves faced with a familiar scene... namely, a scene from the pilot episode of the series. That leads to some delightfully self-reflexive jokes about the show, made by characters on the show. It's all very postmodern.

But an episode of "Family Guy" wouldn't be complete with a joke or two aimed to offend, so they made sure that the 9/11 attacks played a central role in the episode.

When Brian and Stewie take their trip, Brian warns his past self to stop 9/11, which causes a butterfly effect that casts the country into a new civil war, killing millions.

Thus, Brian and Stewie go back again to stop themselves from stopping 9/11, and when they return to find that the World Trade Center did in fact collapse, they high-five with glee. At least they realize it probably looks bad out of context.

It's not quite as bad as the horrendous episode from a couple of weeks ago that made light of domestic violence for a half an hour, but it's still pretty edgy.
