'Family Guy' - 'The Simpsons' Cross-Over Episode Confirmed

'Family Guy' - 'The Simpsons' Cross-Over Episode Confirmed Get ready for a collision of two animated worlds: Springfield is coming to Quahog! Or, you know, vice versa.

At the FOX upfronts today, the network announced that there will be a special cross-over episode of "Family Guy" and "The Simpsons" in the upcoming fall season. They very creatively titled the episode "The Simpsons Guy."

This marks the first time that the two shows have collaborated together, despite having stood side-by-side, or close to it, in time slot on the FOX network for years.

However, this isn't the first time that characters from "The Simpsons" have appeared on "Family Guy." Seth MacFarlane's show has mocked its elder animated series a few times, most notably in a very dark cutaway that has Quagmire sleeping with Marge Simpson and then murdering the entire Simpson family.

Presumably, no one will get murdered in this cross-over, which will somehow exist in the real worlds of both shows and not in the often consequence-free framing of "Family Guy" cutaways. There are no details yet about the plot of the episode, nor any explanation of why everyone from Springfield will have yellow skin. We're willing to bet good money that Stewie has something to do with this, perhaps through one of his inventions that allow travel between different universes.

The only thing we have to go on is a screenshot of the episode, which features Peter and Homer having some kind of big fight. Which we look forward to watching.
