'Family Guy' Season 10, Episode 1 'Lottery Fever' Recap

'Family Guy' Season 10, Episode 1 'Lottery Fever' Recap "Family Guy" is back for season 10, and "Lottery Fever" feels a bit like a return to form for the show. Last season felt like it got a bit lost in the musical episodes, big events and of course "Star Wars" spoofing, and we were left with little of what we fell in love with in the early seasons.

But "Lottery Fever" was a tight episode, if not a little overly simplistic. The plot is territory we've seen many times before: poor family comes into money and realizes that it changes them for the worse. But, of course, this is the "Family Guy" take.

The Griffins are flat broke, so Peter comes up with a plan to get them out of their financial troubles: buy 100,000 lottery tickets. After a bit of luck (and a montage), they find the winning ticket and cash in.

But Peter, who lends money to Quagmire and Joe, lets it go to his head and holds his friendship with Joe and Quagmire ransom, making them skip work and do performances of "Makin' Whoopee" for him. He loses them, of course, and loses all the money (thanks to some bad off-shore investment at the Gayman Islands), and realizes that friends and family are what matter the most.

But there was some really fun stuff here, and a few laugh-worthy bits ("Buttle my penis! Buttle it!") that were vintage "Family Guy." Of course, there were also some gimmicks that the show really needn't rely on...the pregnant opening credits dancer was fun but gimmicky, and the Trololo Guy sequence was a bit of a clunker and kinda dated to boot.
