'Family Guy' Pulls Episode After Boston Marathon Bombings

A “Family Guy” episode has been pulled from Fox.com and Hulu.com following the Boston Marathon bombings, Fox spokeswoman Gaude Paez said Tuesday.

The episode, entitled “Turban Cowboy,” features Peter Griffin being interviewed by sports announcer Bob Costas about his performance at the marathon. A flashback shows Peter mowing down runners with his car.

"I'll tell ya, Bob, I just got in my car and drove it," Griffin says. "And when there was a guy in my way, I killed him."

Later in the episode, Peter becomes friends with a terrorist who, he does not realize, has a plot to blow up a bridge. When Peter dials a cell phone the friend gives him, explosions and screams are heard.

Another Fox source says the network has no plans to air the episode again.

Making the rounds of the Internet, a tasteless clip has been edited from the episode, combining the two scenes so that it seems that the explosion occurs at the marathon, inspiring a conspiracy theory that “Family Guy” somehow predicted the awful act of terror.

"Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane took to Twitter with an angry response to the altered video.

"The edited `Family Guy' clip currently circulating is abhorrent," MacFarlane said. "The event was a crime and a tragedy, and my thoughts are with the victims."

“New Girl” was also swapped for an alternative episode this evening. Originally an episode that aired in January was to rerun. It featured Nick believing that one of Jess’ adult students was actually a serial killer plotting to murder her, and included a suspicious duffel bag at the end of the episode that was never quite cleared. The network substituted it for a less emotionally responsive episode involving a fight over a parking spot.
