'Family Guy' Mocks Trump in Emmy Pitch

The run-up to November's general presidential election hasn't even officially begun yet, but already the creators of political satire are gearing up for what promises to be a particularly funny election season. The producers of the animated Fox series Family Guy are among the first mockers to jump on the Republican party's presumptive nominee, Donald Trump, with a mailer delivered this week to Emmy voters.

The mailer is intended as a for-your-consideration reminder to Emmy voters in advance of this year's voting for the awards. It features the show's central character, Peter Griffin, decked out with Trump's signature wild comb-over and spray tan, along with the words, "As long as we’re voting for dumb loudmouths, can I get an Emmy?"

Family Guy is vying this year for an Outstanding Animated Program nomination, a change from the years before 2013, when the series was placed in the Outstanding Comedy series category. Family Guy has been nominated for 13 Emmys and has won five times. All of those wins came prior to 2013.

Trump is beginning to draw new satiric jabs this week after the departure of Ted Cruz and John Kasich from the primary race left Trump as the only Republican candidate still chasing the party's nomination.
