'The Evil Dead' Returns... As a Television Series

"The Evil Dead" are coming... to television?

The cult classic, which branched off of "The Book of the Dead" and produced two sequels as well as a 2013 reboot, is now in the works as a series... almost three decades after the first film aired.

The good news? The writer and director of the original movie, Sam Raimi, along with brother Ivan who co-wrote, willl be penning the series.

Raimi announced the plan to bring the series to television at San Diego's Comic-Con, during a panel discussing the movie adaptation of the video game "The Last of Us," which he is set to produce.

Oh wait, there's even better news. The star of the "Evil Dead" trilogy, Bruce Campbell, is set to return as Ash Williams.

"That's the plan," he said on his Twitter, regarding reprising his character, after a fan pointed out that "The Evil Dead" on the small screen would be not worth watching unless he were figuring to return. After all, it's hard to think of "Evil Dead" without Campbell. He even appeared in the 2013 version, with a super-brief cameo after the credits.

56-year-old Campbell also appeared recently in Raimi's "Oz: The Great and Powerful," after wrapping up six years as a retired Navy Seal on USA's "Burn Notice."

Groovy.
