E!'s Giuliana Rancic Undergoes Successful Double Mastectomy

E!'s Giuliana Rancic Undergoes Successful Double Mastectomy Though her recent breast cancer diagnosis has splashed supermarket tabloid covers recently, E!'s Giuliana Rancic looks like she can notch a battle won in her war for her health.

E! News reports today that the "E! News Now" and "Fashion Police" hostess underwent a successful double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery Tuesday evening.

"G is doing really well," her husband Bill Rancic exclusively told E! News. "Her surgery lasted about four hours and the doctors were very pleased with the result.

"She had a little bit of pain through the night but is feeling much better this morning and was cracking jokes," Bill added.

She also passed along her own personal gratitude.

"I want to thank all the viewers and fans for their support and prayers," Giuliana said. "The tweets and notes have not gone unnoticed. I am very grateful."

Rancic announced her diagnosis this past October and said she talked publicly and candidly about her battle via E! News and an appearance on "Today" on NBC to erase the fearful stigma associated with mastectomy, to promote proactivity as the best way to catch breast cancer early, and to both thank and reassure her supportive friends, family and fans.

"Am I scared? Yes. Scared of the unknown. Scared of the pain," Giuliana said then. "But I'm not scared of what I'll be like. I'll have scars, but I like scars. Scars are beautiful because they tell a story.

"I'll be able to say that I survived something major and it's made me stronger. I will be a better woman for it."
