Episode 'The Voice' Season 1, Episode 2 - 'Blind Auditions Part 2' Recap

Episode 'The Voice' Season 1, Episode 2 - 'Blind Auditions Part 2' Recap In case you missed it, here are the teams after the first round of blind auditions:

Christina Aguilera: Taralyn, Frenchie, Beverly

Cee Lo Green: Vicci, Kelsey, Tje

Blake Shelton: Patrick, Xenia, Elenowen

Adam Levine: Rebecca, Javier, Jeff

Background singer Cherie Oakley has some touring experience, and apparently wrote a song for Reba McEntire who will be on the next show. She's also singing a Miranda Lambert song, who happens to be engaged to Blake Shelton...who reacts accordingly when he heard the first three notes.

The coaches look like they're asleep at the wheel (or button) for most of the song, but Christina is impressed at the end and chooses Cherie for her team. Blake wanted nothing to do with it. It looks like the repeating theme of this show will be Cee Lo creepily hitting on the good-looking contestants.

Devon Barley, a med student, is trying to become a singer instead of following in his parents' footsteps and becoming a chiropractor...or a dietician...do you have to go to med school for those?

Devon breathes his way through "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. He seems to struggle a bit, but makes the song his own. Cee Lo and Adam finally turn after a long consideration. Christina mentions that Devon would work well with Adam, and I think she's right...although he has some soul potential and could work with Cee Lo too. Devon chooses Adam, as awkwardly as humanly possible.

Next up is Joshua Scott Hand is up next. You can always remember his name, because he's a total douchebag.

Josh chooses "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga, and manages an interesting acoustic cover, but just doesn't sing very well. It's too bad, his mom must have spent a lot of time making that big hand.

16-year-old Raquel Castro is the youngest in the competition, and the first to cross herself before she walks out. She mentions her adoration of Christina, so I guess we know whom she'll choose if she has the opportunity.

The coaches all agree she's good, but keep encouraging each other to press the button. Finally Christina chooses her, and Raquel's mom totally loses it. The pairing is a good one, both in terms of style and in terms of height.

Ooh, it's time to play everyone's favorite game, "Would You Pick This Contestant Based On Their Feet?"

Emily Valentine, 23-year-old from Hollywood, is up next. She gives the usual speech about surprising with her voice over her appearance. She warbles her way through "Sober," and lands very flat on a couple of notes, but still sings strongly.

Cee Lo and Blake both turn. Cee Lo hits on Emily (awkward count: 2), but the two might be a good match based solely on arm tattoos. Sure enough, she chooses him.

Whoa, we're fast-forwarding this thing a little bit as the show rushes us through the choosing of Niki Dawson by Cee Lo (with Adam's assistance) and Sara Oromchi by Blake.

Tim Mahoney and his girly voice are up next, singing "Bring It Home to Me." Adam buzzes very quickly, clearly thinking that Tim is a woman. He looks almost disappointed. "Sadly, you have a penis," says Adam. He was looking for a girl for his team, but he still gets a unique voice out of Tim, and a talented one (awkward count: 3).

Julia Eason, a soccer player, is up next singing Duffy's "Mercy," a song that no one ever wanted to hear ever again. Julia sings it very well though, and turns both Cee Lo and Christina. Both of them state their cases, but Julia opts for Christina. I think she actually would have done better with Cee Lo.

Southern gal Angela Wolff follows Blake Shelton on Twitter, so we know whom she wants to work with. She thinks she's all clever because she's singing a Miranda Lambert song, but she's already been beaten to the punch.

Blake responds to the song again, but will it work against Angela like it did with Cherie? Blake says that she didn't really go anywhere with it. You can practically hear her heart break.

Tyler Robinson, a 20-year-old gay man who looks like a software engineer comes in, and gives a sob story about not having a good relationship with his dad, and also outs himself to him on TV.

He chooses Train's "Hey Soul Sister," and sings it reasonably well...but good lord, do I hate that song. It's enough to turn Blake around so it looks like Tyler will be on the country team.

One-named Nakia comes in, choosing to sing "Forget You" (we know the real title). It's a ballsy move, considering that he has to really nail it if he's going to sing Cee Lo's song.

Nakia really does nail it, and Cee Lo is the first to turn, but is soon joined by Blake (who is delighted by Nakia's Hurley-from-"Lost" look). Cee Lo notes that Nakia has great taste in music. Nakia shows some attitude to Christina for not buzzing in..."Your loss," he says. Blake pleads his case by noting how Nakia really revved up the crowd...and noting that Cee Lo dresses like a peacock.

Nakia goes with Cee Lo. Everyone is tremendously shocked.

Fast-forward time: Blake picks up Serabee, marking the second one-named person. Adam grabs Casey Desmond, a rock chick. And Christina chooses Justin Grennan, a window installer who makes it as her first male team member.

We get a montage of failed contestants who don't get chosen. That leaves more open spots than artists, so some singers are probably going to get a second chance soon.

Soft-spoken Dia Frampton, a children's novelist, is up next. She sings "Bubbly" with a really delightful, wispy voice with a lot of character...very Regina Spektor-esque. Blake turns immediately and Cee Lo soon joins. Cee Lo starts hitting on Dia immediately (awkward count: 4) and Blake makes a strong case. Dia goes with Blake...probably a good choice if she doesn't want to continue to be awkwardly hit on.

Curtis Grimes is up next, he's a down-home country boy who chooses to sing a Blake Shelton song, "Hillbilly Bone." Cee Lo is actually the only one to turn, a surprising move. But hey, it'll be cool to see Cee Lo work with a country artist.

There's only one audition left and five spaces still open (one for Christina, Blake and Cee Lo, two for Adam), so there are going to be some repeats. But first, sisters Tori and Taylor Thompson, 17 and 19 years old respectively, will perform.

At first the judges think that they're just one girl, and Adam's face when they start harmonizing is priceless. The performance is middling at best, but the girls are darned cute, and that gets Cee Lo to turn.

So, now it's time to recycle some of the failed singers...eight of them will have a chance to perform again. The order is random, but you'd think that the judges will know who's who anyway.

Lily Elise, the girl who Christina regretted not choosing, is up first. Christina really pretends to think about it hard, but I think it's pretty clear that she knows it's Lily...so she turns, and Christina has her team.

Sonia Rao, one of the contestants from last week, is up next...you might remember Cee Lo's reaction when he turned and saw the beautiful Sonia ("Oh s***!"). Adam and Blake are unimpressed, and still disappointed when they see her. Pretty face, not so great voice. That's why we do the blind auditions, folks!

Jared Blake, also from last week, performs again. Blake Shelton regretted not choosing him last time, but he turns this time. That's good to see for the father of six.

So now Christina, Blake and Cee Lo are all set and have their teams of eight. Now, the remaining contestants will parade out until Adam makes his choices.

Casey Weston, a country gal, is the next one up. We didn't see Casey last time, all we know is that she was heartbroken about not being picked. Adam finally turns, taking Casey and leaving just one empty spot on his team.

Angela Wolff, who tried to get cute with a Miranda Lambert song last time, comes back out armed with Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," and gets Adam to turn almost immediately. So, I guess she'll be unfollowing Blake on Twitter.

So, after the blind auditions are done, here are the full teams:

Christina Aguilera: Taralyn, Frenchie, Beverly, Cherie, Raquel, Julia, Justin, Lily

Cee Lo Green: Vicci, Kelsey, Tje, Emily, Niki, Nakia, Curtis, Tori and Taylor

Blake Shelton: Patrick, Xenia, Elenowen, Sara, Tyler, Serabee, Dia, Jared

Adam Levine: Rebecca, Javier, Jeff, Devon, Tim, Casey D, Casey W, Angela
