Episode 'Gossip Girl' Season 4, Episode 22 (Finale) - 'The Wrong Goodbye' Recap

Episode 'Gossip Girl' Season 4, Episode 22 (Finale) - 'The Wrong Goodbye' Recap Season finales always leave me with a sense of emptiness and yearning. Going into a "Gossip Girl" season finale, you know that you will have to pay close attention because it is guaranteed to be action packed.

The "GG" writers did a great job of wrapping things up for the summer, while leaving viewers craving more Chuck, more Blair, more passion and more fashion. We finally got the David O. Russell guest appearance we had been waiting for as well.

We open with Serena and Vanessa headed to the Constance Ball on a wild goose chase for Dan and Charlie. The girls want to make sure that S's off-her-meds crazy cousin hasn't hurt Dan or herself. Fortunately she hasn't hurt Dan, unfortunately she hasn't injured herself either. This girl chafes me like a too-small sports bra. Oh, and Georgina Sparks waltzes into the reunion like she never tried to pin her baby daddy drama on Dan. No one likes you.

Everyone in town is at the party with the exception of Lily Humphrey, who's still on Lohan lockdown, and Blair. B was supposed to show up at the party to meet her Prince, if she had chosen him, otherwise the Royal Wedding was off.

After some searching, Chuck realizes that Blair might actually be in danger because she is MIA.

We know from last week that Blair is at Chuck's new hotel being held hostage by Russell Thorpe. Chuck, Nate and Raina come to Blair's rescue and Thorpe is off to prison. Raina decides that the UES no longer feels like home and she bids farewell to Nate. Blair brushes off her near-death experience and wants to rush back to her waiting Prince.

Chuck (too-easily) convinces Blair to have a drink before going back to Constance to "calm her nerves." She agrees and we are taken on the tackiest, cheesiest Bar Mitzvah crashing since "Wedding Crashers." Adele is blasting in the background while Chuck and B twirl around and are lifted on chairs. For old times sake the duo sneaks off to an empty room and get it on. Missed ya.

Back at the party Serena and Charlie call a truce, again, and Princess Sophie does the "I told you so" dance for Prince Louis. Louis, however, is convinced that his bride-to-be will arrive, even if he has to wait all night (which he does). Chuck, Blair and Louis end up face-to-face and just when you think B is going to cut the Prince loose, Chuck steps in to give his blessing and we are heartbroken again. It looks like B will end up being royalty after all.

Somewhere during the crazy cousin search Vanessa stumbles upon a book Dan has written. So random that during all the chaos she stops to read, maybe it was the catchy title, "Inside." Either way the book divulges the truth about Dan. It says that all he ever wanted was to be a Manhattan socialite scene insider. She calls Dan, he tells her to get lost and leave the book alone. She does the opposite and ends up selling the book to a publisher before peacing out to Spain. Good riddance.

Also, in all the madness Georgina slips her number to Charlie, possibly cementing the most certifiably insane twosome we've seen yet. Charlie makes a disturbing call to someone to say that "it all went according to plan." What is her deal?!

Cut to three weeks after the party.

Blair is headed off to Monaco to be with her man for the summer. S is going west to Malibu for some grandma time and winds up meeting David O. Russell. Do I smell Hollywood?

Chuck and Nate take off for a whirlwind bachelor summer. Lily is on house arrest 'til Fall. Eric and Dan decide to head out to the Hamptons house to chill and Charlie is hopping a bus back to Florida. Smooth sailing for the summer huh?

Not so fast. It looks like Charlie was never related to the Serena after all. Instead she was hired by Lily's sister to steal from the family. Wicked.

We are left with one finale twist. Dorota is emptying the trash, in what we assume is Blair's room, and she tosses a positive pregnancy test. We knew that Chuck and B were not over! Hey Bass, you should have wrapped it up! 'Til next season...
