Episode 'Family Guy' Season 9, Episode 15 - 'Brothers and Sisters' Recap

Episode 'Family Guy' Season 9, Episode 15 - 'Brothers and Sisters' Recap Last night's brand-new episode of "Family Guy" brought Lois' sister Carol back into the spotlight...after her last appearance from like, six seasons ago. Anyway, she's gotten another divorce (that makes nine), so she's spending some time with Lois to get over it.

She's barely in town for five minutes before she runs into Mayor Adam West, who is enamored with her. They go on one date (and Mayor West totally kills a dude), and decide to get married.

Here's the thing about this episode (entitled "Brothers and Sisters"): the marriage proposal happens in the first five minutes or so.

The rest of the episode is spent with Lois trying to get Carol to reconsider and Peter taking the opposite stance, as he wants Adam West as a brother. It never really goes anywhere, and you get the feeling while watching it that more exploration of Peter and Adam West's relationship would have been much more interesting. I mean seriously, how have these two not hung out more? They're practically the same person!

That said, there were some pretty great jokes in this one, a few of them chuckle-worthy. In particular, "paginis" was pretty good, Stewie needing to get better at shapes, and the "prima noctis" bit was just silly enough to be funny. The best cut-away of the episode, though, had to be "Men! We don't know what we did!" So true, "Family Guy." So true.

This FG episode also went back to more random cut-aways, which have been lacking in recent episodes. Some don't like the cut-aways (the writers of "South Park" in particular), but I think they're FG's unique feature, and they're worth sticking to.

On thing bothered me about this episode, though: didn't we just find out last week that the Mayor West/Meg thing is still going on? What happened to that? Meg should probably be a little upset about this...but she was just gone all episode.

Cut-aways of the week: "Family Ties" reference, paginis, "Men! We don't know what we did!", stubborn as a pigeon in an ad agency, the Tesla reference, and the totally random Robert Loggia "not okay!"
