Episode '30 Rock' Season 5, Episode 22 - 'Everything Sunny All the Time Always' Recap

Episode '30 Rock' Season 5, Episode 22 - 'Everything Sunny All the Time Always' Recap The theme of this week's episode is control, as Jack, Liz, and even Tracy work to try to gain control over something they can't.

For Liz, it's all about getting her life back on track: as she cleans out her apartment, her conversation with Jenna about "The Secret" leads her to decide to get her life in order. Her new outlook impresses Jack so much that he even gives her one of his neckties! Liz even gets her own montage with a song describing the action. How could she ever fail?

Jack, meanwhile, has a slightly bigger problem: Avery has been kidnapped by the North Korean government. That means Donaghy has to try to get her back, even if it means listening to John Boehner cry or having a dueling flute/piano faceoff with Condoleeza Rice. Yes, the real Condoleeza Rice: she guest stars on this episode, and while the scene she's in is funny, Condi should probably stick to politics instead of acting.

Tracy attempt at control goes so far as to completely re-create a single moment that happened weeks ago. You see, Kenneth, Grizz and Dot Com have a new inside joke from while Tracy was gone: "Smooth move, Ferguson." When Tracy hears them laughing about it, he freaks out as only Tracy Jordan can. Eventually he forces everyone to re-create the moment when the joke happens so that he can be in on it.

Of course, this is "30 Rock," so all of them eventually fail: the moral of the story is that no one can be in control of their own destiny. Tracy finds that he can't re-create the joke, Avery gets married to Kim Jong Un (with Elizabeth Banks signing on for "The Hunger Games," she might be gone during filming for next season), and Liz finds herself up against a plastic bag stuck in the tree outside of her window...she defeats it momentarily, but finds that the universe hits her back tenfold.

The bag, by the way, has the comedic performance of the night. Well, Margaret Cho as Kim Jong Il was pretty good too.
