Enrique Iglesias Reportedly Offered Fourth 'American Idol' Judge Position

Enrique Iglesias Reportedly Offered Fourth 'American Idol' Judge Position Only one signing has been made official with auditions around the corner, but it looks like "American Idol" may have its brand-new judges rounded out.

Perez Hilton claimed that FOX brass have officially offered veteran latin heartthrob Enrique Iglesias the "fourth" spot judging the upcoming twelfth "Idol" cycle. Currently, Iglesias is touring alongside former judge Jennifer Lopez, who departed after two seasons this summer alongside fellow judge and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler.

Why the "fourth?"

Because while Mariah Carey has one certified, $18-million, single-season deal to appear, brightly colored rapper Nicki Minaj can only be called "all but" a certainty. Neither Minaj's management nor FOX executives have confirmed she's signed on the dotted line. Negotiations were first marred by navigating a potential conflict of interest between "Idol"-sponsoring Coca-Cola and Minaj-endorsed Pepsi.

Once that hurdle was cleared, Carey supposedly hung up the call when FOX executives rang to tell her Minaj - with whom Carey collaborated on "Up Out My Face" - looked to be committed. To be fair, Hilton has also reported today that Carey claims no such beef.

Meanwhile, Australian country star Keith Urban has been rumored to be very, very close to signing, but still hesitant to make anything official.

Opening up the fourth spot, 11-season judge Randy Jackson announced last week that he'll be stepping off the panel to assume an off-camera contestant mentorship role.

The sense of urgency should be mounting by now. As Hilton points out, auditions are set to start in just a few weeks. Meanwhile, NBC's "The Voice" and FOX rival "The X Factor" will be revving up their own third and second respective seasons after debuting next week.
