Emmy Rossum Settles 'Shameless' Salary Deal

Emmy Rossum Settles 'Shameless' Salary Deal

Shameless fans can breathe a sigh of relief with the news this week that star Emmy Rossum has reached a deal in her salary negotiations. That means the series will definitely be back for an eighth season on Showtime with Rossum's Fiona still in the cast.

Rossum was reportedly holding out for a deal that would put her salary in line with that of co-star William H. Macy. Rossum argued that she should actually make more than Macy, given that her role in the series is bigger than Macy's and that she'd been underpaid for previous seasons. For his part, Macy was openly supportive of Rossum's demands.

Soon after news of the negotiations went public, further news dropped that Rossum had been successful in getting the raise she wanted, although it's not clear if she'll be making more than Macy. Her negotiating position was strong, given Macy's support and the support of many fans who agreed with her assertion that she is the true star of the series.

The finale of the series' seventh season airs this week on Showtime. Production on the eighth season should start sometime early next year, with a fall premiere date the ultimate plan.
