Emma Stone Officially Cast in Woody Allen's Next Movie

Looks like someone isn't afraid of some controversy.

Emma Stone is lined up to star in Woody Allen's next film, according to Variety. The movie is untitled as of yet, and the plot is completely under wraps, but Joaquin Phoenix is reportedly also set to star.

The project will actually be the second one that Stone and Allen collaborate on together: Stone recently finished filming for Allen's "Magic in the Moonlight," which will hit theaters in the coming months.

That shows that Allen enjoys working with Stone, but it also shows that Stone isn't afraid of the potential controversy involved with being in a Woody Allen movie. Recently, Allen's estranged daughter Dylan Farrow wrote a column in which she, for the first time, leveled accusations of sexual abuse against Allen.

Allen's camp denied the allegations, but the Farrow camp maintained that Allen had a history of such behavior. The newly reignited debate over Allen's character put a damper on a career uptick for the director following the success of "Midnight in Paris."

"Magic in the Moonlight" entered pre-production long enough ago that Stone could have been ignorant to the allegations against Allen. However, there's no doubt that she heard the controversy by this point.

The upcoming film is still looking for a distributor (Sony Pictures Classics is a frontrunner) and hasn't begun filming yet.
