Eminem and Bon Jovi Get Stomped by 450-Year Old Song
by Elizabeth SextonEminem, Bon Jovi, and George Harrison are among the artists who ranked in below the pop chart debut of a long-lost 450-year old song.
When the newly released 1566 Italian Renaissance mass made it’s way into the British pop charts, it came in at number 68. The recording includes 40 voices – most masses are written for four – and ranks number two on the classical charts.
The mass had been performed in several major European cities, but had long been mis-catalogued at the Biblioteque Nationale in Paris. After being discovered only a few years ago, the mass was given its first modern performance at the BBC Proms.
The conductor of the recording, which is by British vocal group I Fagiolini, likens it to an “aural kaleidoscope.”
Odds are “Glee” won’t be touching this one, soon - although, we'd love to see a mash up.
