Eliza Dushku to Star in Animated 'Torchwood' Webisodes

Eliza Dushku to Star in Animated 'Torchwood' Webisodes Eliza Dushku has two very important talents - never aging, and constantly attaching herself to nerdy properties. Hollywood has forever tried to keep women from appearing a day over 30, and Dushku (a 30-year-old herself) has pretty much managed to remain 24 for the past twelve years.

Additionally, since "geek culture" is "pop culture" right now (biggest movies of the summer? Robots, magic rings, mutants, and wizards), her work in "Buffy," "Angel," "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," and "Dollhouse" have meant she's always kind of relevant. And "kind of" relevance is the best relevance of all; it means you never burn out, but everyone knows who you are.

And while starring in a "motion comic" based on the popular geek series "Torchwood" may not seem like a great career move, it's exactly this kind of attitude that has kept Dushku kind of relevant for nearly her whole career. Entertainment Weekly reported today that Dushku will headline the series, which will premiere online through Starz, which had similar success (believe it or not) with motion comics based off their show "Spartacus" (which might be in "Blood and Sand" mode, or perhaps "Gods of the Arena"...who can really tell).

The 10-episode series will be written by former "Dollhouse"/"Buffy"/"Battlestar Gallactica" writer Jane Espenson along with Ryan Scott, who's done a little "Torchwood" writing himself. All of them will have careers attending comic book conventions, and I'll still be sitting here wondering what "Torchwood" even is.
