Eliza Dushku Reading 'How I Met Your Dad' Script

Eliza Dushku Reading 'How I Met Your Dad' Script Eliza Dushku ("Dollhouse") got the rumors flying this week when she let slip on Twitter that she has the pilot script for "How I Met Your Dad" in her hands. Fans were quick to jump on the pseudo-news with the hope that Dushku could be joining Greta Gerwig in the cast of the spin-off of "How I Met Your Mother."

"Ok. Now to put down iphone aka #Kiev‪ #Venezuela tracking device & pick up 'How I Met Your Dad' pilot script to read," Dushku tweeted on Thursday.

The reaction was swift, leading Dushku to clarify a short time later:

"#Reading the pilot, folks. No announcement, just a first date- perhaps this weekend. #HowIMetYourDad. It IS kinda #badass ‪#justsayin."

So there's no real news, but still, it's clear that there's some mutual interest between Dushku and the series' producers. The announcement last week that Gerwig would star in the series did a lot to increase anticipation for the show—which had been tepid, at best—and Dushku would no doubt pull a few more fans over the fence to support the series.

It would also give "How I Met Your Dad" a subtle link to "How I Met Your Mother." Dushku, thanks to her roles in "Dollhouse" and "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," is one of the stable of actors who've made their marks in projects helmed by Joss Whedon. "How I Met Your Mother" has strong Whedon connections, too, via Alyson Hannigan ("Buffy") and Neil Patrick Harris ("Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"). So, in an odd and not-very-direct way, casting Dushku in HIMYD would create some synergy between the series.
