Elisabeth Hasselbeck Not Being Fired from 'The View'
by Zack WellsFret not, folks, Elisabeth Hasselbeck is staying on “The View”. After Joy Behar announced her intentions to leave, rumors began to fly wildly that Elisabeth was being fired as well.
Executive Producer and co-host of “The View” Barbara Walters made an announcement at the beginning of Monday’s show, dismissing any and all rumors of Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s departure and of her being fired, despite them being so widely reported.
“There is a particularly false story that keeps getting picked up about Elisabeth’s alleged departure, saying we don’t approve of her conservative views,” Walters said.
“The truth is, we love Elisabeth. I like her personally, and she’s just a wonderful person,” Walters continued.
“We value and appreciate her point of view. It is important to us, because Elisabeth helps give this show perspective and balance. And believe me; she’s tougher than she looks.”
To reiterate, Walters adds, “we have no plans for Elisabeth to leave this show.”
However, while Elisabeth is staying put, Joy Behar is still leaving the show, which Barbara Walters calls bittersweet. Barbara Walters and Joy Behar started the show 16 years ago.
Joy Behar, however, is lamp shading her departure. She read a list of top 10 reasons for quitting her day job, including such things as “The contact high from sitting next to Whoopi is giving me the munchies” and “ABC won’t let me drink on the air like Hoda and Kathie Lee.” And, of course, her number one reason? “I finally will have the chance to fulfill my dreams of going a whole week without putting on a brazier.”
