Dustin Hoffman, Nick Nolte to Star in New HBO Horse Racing Show 'Luck' (Watch the Trailer) It looks like there's a brand new thoroughbred in the race for the 2012 Emmys.

Of course, we haven't yet seen anything except for the trailer to the new HBO horse racing drama "Luck," but with Michael Mann producing, "Deadwood" creator David Milch directing and Nick Nolte and Dustin Hoffman in starring roles, it doesn't take a seasoned handicapper to predict a potential critical success when the show kicks off in January.

In the new series, Dustin Hoffman plays troubled gambler Chester "Ace" Bernstein and Nick Nolte is a grizzly old veteran trainer known simply as "The Old Man."

"Harry Potter" alum Michael Gambon (aka Professor Dumbledore) is also on board to play one of Hoffman's adversaries.
