'Dragon Ball' Is Getting a New Series, So Let the Kid In You Rejoice
by Andy Neuenschwander
Here's some great news for fans of anime or nostalgia. "Dragon Ball" is getting a new series!
It's been roughly 18 years since "Dragon Ball GT" was on television, and even longer since "Dragon Ball Z" first hit the screen. However, the popular anime franchise has stayed alive through a slew of video games and the occasional one-off movie, including a new one set to release soon.
The new show will be titled "Dragon Ball Chou," which could translate to "Dragon Ball Super" or maybe "Dragon Ball Ultra." DBZ creator Akira Toriyama will return to head up the project.
As for story, not much is revealed yet. However, we do know that the series will take place after the defeat of Majin Buu by Goku, so it will pick up right where the last series left off rather than take a big leap in time. Despite the long time between series, it seems this will be more of a direct sequel than a reboot or spin-off.
No matter what, it'll be a better product than that live-action movie, which we can probably all agree should never be mentioned again.
