Dr. Oz on the five most popular resolutions and ways to make them happen

Dr. Oz During the holiday season, people were occupied with buying presents, preparing food and enjoying every party.

As the year 2011 arrives, every person has at least one New Year’s resolution. Many people set their own New Year’s resolution but oftentimes break it.

Dr. Mehmet Oz told People magazine that he created an 11-week schedule on his show to help his viewers deal with their New Year’s resolution and stick to it.

Dr. Oz said "A New Year's resolution is so important, at the end of the day, if you've got a game plan that you've set yourself up to succeed with, you will follow parts of the plan. Not having one is your biggest mistake."

  1. 1 . Get more sleep

Dr Oz said, “Sometimes, hitting the snooze button in the morning isn't such a bad idea. A lack of rest can cause your body to gain weight.” He also said that adding seven hours of sleep per night is the magic number. However, “That's not easy to do. You have to work at it. You have to develop a schedule like a child has a schedule,” added Dr. Oz.

2. Lose 10 Lbs.

The key to cutting your risk of having a heart attack or getting arthritis? Ten lbs. Dr. Oz explained that losing you weight ten pounds is highly beneficial and easy to meet.

3.  Work out every morning

Dr. Oz explained that the best way to start your day is to take a seven-minute brisk walk and not drinking a latte. Oz said, "There is no excuse for not doing it, You control what time you get up in the morning, so just get up seven minutes earlier and do it.

4.  Take a multivitamin every day

A multivitamin ensures you're getting the 12 essential vitamins and minerals you need in your diet every day – especially if you're not getting them at the dinner table.

According to the doctor, "Eating a great wholesome diet will get you most of what you need, most people don't." He explained that a multivitamin will give the 12 vitamins and minerals you need for your daily diet.

5. Make time for friends and family every single day

This is Dr. Oz personal resolution and he said."I've decided I need to spend more time with my kids, I have precious moments when I can spend time with my kids and share life lessons I think they need to hear."

Dr. Oz pointed out that keeping in touch with your loved ones doesn’t necessarily mean you have to spend long hours over the phone. He said, "It doesn't have to be a long conversation – just three or four minutes, “Most people do this naturally without thinking about it, but some don't.”
