'Downton Abbey' Releases Season 5 Stills...With One Huge Mistake
by Andy NeuenschwanderThis is most improper.
The hit PBS series "Downton Abbey" released its first set of stills for the upcoming fifth season today, showcasing character portraits of the show's major players. But in one of the photos, there was a small yet glaring detail that got overlooked.
The photo in question features Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville) and Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) posing in a stately manor in front of a mantle with various accoutrements. The problem is, one of those accoutrements is a plastic water bottle!
It would seem that one of the actors or crew members neglected to remove their futuristic drinking apparatus from the set before the photo was snapped. Also, the photographer failed to notice it was there, whoever edited the photo failed to photoshop it out, and whoever posted the photo missed it as well.
In everyone's defense, it is made of clear plastic and it's kinda hard to see. Also, it was probably pretty hot shooting those photos on that set on what was probably a summer day in period clothing.
The fifth season, which premieres early next year, will take place roughly six months after the events of the season four finale. That would make the year 1924...at least they're still a few years away from the stock market crash.
Catch the premiere of "Downton Abbey" season 5 on January 4, 2015. Check out the offending photo and the other stills below:
