'Downton Abbey' Alum Will Star Opposite Emma Watson in 'Beauty and the Beast'

We already knew that Emma Watson is the beauty...now we know who the Beast is!

Watson herself made the official announcement on Twitter Thursday morning by posting a photo of Dan Stevens with the caption, "Could not be more happy that this man will be Beast!!! Welcome aboard @thatdanstevens #beautyandthebeast."

Stevens has been on the rumor mill for a while, and even teased fans yesterday by posting a photo on Twitter that simply said "Beast Mode."

The British actor is perhaps best known for his role as Matthew Crawley on "Downton Abbey," though he has landed other high-profile roles of late in the Liam Neeson thriller "A Walk Among the Tombstones" and as Sir Lancelot in the most recent "Night at the Museum" movie.

Joining Watson and Stevens will be "The Hobbit" actor Luke Evans, who will take on the role of the villainous Gaston.

The movie is another in a string of Disney movies that provide live-action, visually rich adaptations of classic animated Disney princess stories. Disney's "Cinderella," the latest in that trend, releases next Friday.

Bill Condon, who took on "Twilight: Breaking Dawn," will direct the film. A release date for the film has not yet been set.
