Was the 'American Idol' Double Elimination Night a Surprise?

Was the 'American Idol' Double Elimination Night a Surprise? American Idol threw another wild card at viewers Thursday, sending two contests home.

Naima Adedapo and Thia Megia were both send home after a double elimination.

The intro told viewers, after a record breaking 55 million votes were cast, you won’t believe who is going home.

Critics have been quick to point out the misleading nature of the tease. Adedapo and Megia have long been struggling to wow the judges and audience.

Casey Abrams, without disclosing his votes, was beyond safe, Ryan Seacrest assured. Abrams was the honored recipient of the judges “save” last week.

A current readers’ poll on TV Guide shows Pia Toscano leading their results with 26 percent, and Abrams placing in at number 4 with 13 percent.
