Donald Trump Slams Alec Baldwin (Again) in a Tweet

Donald Trump took to Twitter on Friday morning to remind everyone that he doesn't like Alec Baldwin. The president was responding to an interview in which Bladwin described impersonating Trump as "agony." In an uncharacteristically sharp burn, Trump retorted that Baldwin's impersonation is agony for viewers, too. He delivered the insult with lots of typos, though. That much was in character.

President Trump took a break early Friday from the Russia probe, a White House in turmoil and a looming trade war to focus on another important subject – “Alex” Baldwin.

The left-leaning actor — who has infuriated the president with his pouty, squinty-eyed, boorish impression on “SNL” – on Thursday told The Hollywood Reporter that playing Trump was “agony.”

“Alex [sic] Baldwin, whose dieing [sic] mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony,” Trump tweeted, later correcting the misspellings, though it’s unclear if he intentionally bungled the actor’s name.

“Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch. Bring back Darrell Hammond, funnier and a far greater talent!” he added, citing the actor known for his famous impersonation of Bill Clinton.

Trump has previously slammed Baldwin over his sketches. In October 2016, a month before the presidential election, he called the parody a “hit job” in a tweet.

Baldwin, 59, told The Hollywood Reporter that “every time I do it now, it’s like agony. Agony. I can’t.”

He expressed his fears about what would happen “if things don’t go in the right direction” for the midterm elections.

“I could go out on the street, stand on any corner and tap 10 people on the shoulder. And all 10 of them, in all likelihood, would be more qualified — ethically, morally, intellectually and spiritually — than Trump,” Baldwin said.
