Donald Sutherland Joins 'The Hunger Games'

Many of the younger roles in the movie adaptation of "The Hunger Games" have been filled, but one big older role was left open: that of the villainous President Snow.

As of today, the role is open no longer: THR is reporting that veteran actor Donald Sutherland has filled the role, adding another big name to the already talented cast.

Sutherland joins Woody Harrelson, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, and a host of others. Jennifer Lawrence, who will be starring as Mystique in the soon-to-open "X-Men: First Class," will be playing the lead role of Katniss.

Sutherland, who is the father of Keifer, has been in the business a long time and turned in a number of memorable performances...be it the creepy professor in "Animal House," Mr. Bennett in the recent adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice," or his turn as the head of the Darling family on ABC's short-lived but strangely addictive "Dirty Sexy Money."

"The Hunger Games" is set for a March 23rd, 2012 release.
