Do Americans Care About the Royal Wedding?

Do Americans Care About the Royal Wedding? Last night's network ratings are in, and they bring numbers on the 20/20 special that ABC aired. You know, "William and Catherine: A Modern Fairy Tale"? Hosted by Barbara Walters? Yeah, I didn't watch it either.

The special brought in 7.7 million viewers, which isn't bad but it was low enough to be beaten by "Hawaii 5-0" by a window of about 3 million viewers.

Lifetime also premiered the TV movie "William and Kate," for which the ratings aren't in yet, but the reviews are...and they're not so good. Some critics have compared it to "Troll 2," meaning that it's so bad it's entertaining.

Obviously these are just specials and not the actual wedding, but still one has to wonder if Americans care about the Royal Wedding. It's projected to be one of the most-watched events of all time (with a good chance of setting a record), and will be broadcast all over the world on all kinds of platforms. YouTube just announced that it will be streaming the Royal Family's own version of the wedding coverage online.

It almost seems as if the media expects us to be excited about this wedding, and is therefore preparing tons of coverage and specials leading up to the event. As a result, we sort of have no choice but to be involved. It's everywhere.

Do you care about the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton? Have you been watching any of the specials so far, and do you plan to watch any of them coming up?

For those of you who do care about the Royal Wedding - you're in luck. No joke, Papa John's just announced it is releasing a special Royal Wedding Pizza, cheese definitely included.
