Disney's 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day' Lands Director

Disney's 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day' Lands Director Disney has roped in a new director for their upcoming adaptation of Judith Viorst’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”.

Lisa Cholodenko (writer and director of “The Kids Are All Right”) was originally slated to direct this behemoth of an adaptation, but she backed out after Disney acquired the film rights from Fox Studios.

Miguel Arteta (director of “The Good Girl”, “Youth in Revolt”, and “Cedar Rapids”) steps in to take her place. However, the original script to the adaptation was written by Lisa Cholodenko, so it’s currently unknown if Miguel Arteta will commission a rewrite of the script or not.

As it sits now, Steve Carell (“The Office”, “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”, “Despicable Me”, “Crazy, Stupid, Love”) is attached to the film, set to play Alexander’s father.

“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” centers around Alexander as his day goes downhill.

“He could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. He went to sleep with gum in his mouth and woke up with gum in his hair. When he got out of bed, he tripped over his skateboard and by mistake dropped his sweater in the sink while the water was running. He could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.”

No release date has been announced, and it’s currently unknown if they’ve even begun production. But it’s clear that Disney is very eager to push forward on this film, likely aiming for this fall to begin production.
