Disney Channel Renews 'Girl Meets World' for Season 2

Disney Channel Renews 'Girl Meets World' for Season 2 The Disney Channel might have itself a new flagship show.

"Girl Meet World" has been renewed for a second season, according to reports. The much-anticipated "Boy Meets World" spin-off is still only about halfway through its first season, a 20-episode order. No word yet on how many episodes Disney plans to order, but all indications say that it will also be 20.

The renewal isn't a huge surprise: Reponse to the show has been mostly positive, and it premiered to more than 5 million viewers back in late June following months of buzz.

"The series swiftly became a favorite of kids and their parents, many of whom grew up with Boy Meets World," said Disney Channel exec Adam Bonnett in a statement. "We're looking forward to watching Riley Matthews and Maya Hart make the world their own, as Cory and Topanga teach them life lessons along the way."

Cameos are another thing to look forward to, as former "Boy Meets World" stars Rider Strong (Shawn) and William Daniels (Mr. Feeny) are set to appear on the show later this season. We could see even more appearances from them and other "Boy Meets World" stars in coming seasons.

For now, expect to see those cameos around Thanksgiving. You can catch "Girl Meets World" Fridays at 8:30 on Disney Channel.
