Did 'Britain's Got Talent' Strike Boyle Again, Or Is Edward Reid a Fraud? Watch and Decide

Did 'Britain's Got Talent' Strike Boyle Again, Or Is Edward Reid a Fraud? Watch and Decide When 35 year-old Glaswegian drama teacher Edward Reid ambled on stage for a recent episode of ‘Britain’s Got Talent,’ hopes for the cravat-wearing vocalist were not high.

When he busted out a wailing cabaret-style medley of nursery rhymes, however, the resulting reaction caused media and the audience to (perhaps artificially) harken  back to Scottish frump-sation Susan Boyle, who shocked the show’s audience with her mountain-scaling arias.

Now Frisky and Mannish, a British vocal duet, are claiming Reid stole their act after seeing one of their shows, and from a video of the performance, they very well might have a point.

"He's developed his version of 'Run', which bears strong resemblance to our version of 'Wheels on the Bus', which he saw us perform at the festival back in 2009,” said the group in a statement to The Sun.

"Of course we are not claiming we 'own' this genre of cabaret comedy - that is, performing twisted versions of pop songs. But there are strong links and similarities in this instance which are slightly disconcerting," said Reid.

Like, for example, kicking off with “Old MacDonald Had a Farm,” which is sort of what makes the whole concept so funny and interesting.

Reid responded by acknowledging he had, in fact seen the show, but hadn’t ripped off the act:

"I have heard of them but I haven't copied their act. The reason I came up with this because I was working with a pair of twins with autism. The only language one of them had was E-I-E-I-E-I and his brother only said O-O-O and we would sing 'Old MacDonald'. They liked heavy metal music and they were chanting E-I-O to 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' by The Darkness, but it was too fast so I put it against 'Run'. Then I decided to do it on the show,” the singer told The Sun.

"I think Frisky and Mannish are hysterical and extremely talented. But I think there are other people who do stuff like we do. It's camp and tongue-in-cheek. I'd be flattered if anyone compared me to them because I think they're amazing," said Reid.

We’ll let you take a look at both performances and decide for yourself.
