'Dexter' Season 6 Poster Has Dexter as a Bloody Angel (Plus: Season 6 Predictions!)

'Dexter' Season 6 Poster Has Dexter as a Bloody Angel (Plus: Season 6 Predictions!) Dexter may be painted as an angel in this promo poster for the upcoming season, but that doesn't mean it won't be bloody as hell.

The new key art for "Dexter" season 6 has our murder-happy pal, played by Michael C. Hall, dressed in black and clutching his hands in prayer. But rather than holding a rosary, Dexter has himself a nice, sharp knife.

Religion is clearly going to play a large role in the upcoming season. If the poster isn't enough of an indication, there's also the fact that Edward James Olmos is going to guest-star as a religious studies professor, and Colin Hanks will play one of his students. Mos Def is also on as an ex-con who reforms others, though whether or not he does so through religion remains to be seen.

"Dexter" history would indicate that these three guest stars will end up being killers of the less virtuous kind, as evidenced by John Lithgow and Jimmy Smits in their season-long appearances. If so, this could be an interesting challenge for Dexter: if all three are bad guys and religion is the main theme, we could see Olmos as a shepherd of sorts with Hanks and Mos Def as his disciples. Taking on three killers, fueled by misplaced religious fervor, would make for an interesting obstacle for Dex.

The new season premieres on October 2nd at 9pm on Showtime. Get ready, it's gonna be good.
