Episode 'Desperate Housewives' Season 7, Episode 17 - 'Everything's Different, Nothing's Changed' Recap In “Everything’s Different, Nothing’s Changed,” Mary Alice’s fortune-cookie presented the perfect foreshadowing:

“We never know the moment our lives will change forever.”

First we find out that Susan has a kidney donor, while Paul is learning that Beth took her own life. This latest suicide shocks the women of Fairview. Bree wishes she could have been there for her. Susan took Paul’s heartbreak into consideration for his reason to not donate Beth’s kidney (even though she arranged it prior to her death). Renee is concerned that the mourning time may interrupt her plans for a “Spring Fling” party.

Paul visits Felicia in the prison chapel, where she is at a loss about her daughter. She tells Paul that Beth really loved him and this is why she rejected her. When Paul acknowledges what he did to Beth, the same thing he had accused Susan of, he agrees to let Susan have her kidney. Felicia benefits as well from Beth’s death and gets parole.

Renee is set on continue the plans for the party, reminding her neighbors that Beth is really just braindead and “she seems like a clinger. Bet she’ll be around for months.” Gabby joins the party-planning and insists on a champagne toast in Beth’s name. Renee corrects the suggestion with “Instead of champagne, let’s do mojitos. And instead of Beth, let’s toast us.”

The party begins and the only people who show are workmen and service people. Eventually, we find out that Renee’s mother had committed suicide when she was a child, and this is why Renee was set on pulling the party off.

Meanwhile, Andrew is found drunken on Mrs. McCluskey’s couch, spawning the two best lines of the night.

“If I wanted a drunk homo on my couch, I would have married my college boyfriend,” McCluskey tells Bree. Bree tricks Andrew into going to an AA meeting by pretending it was a catering event. Alex moves out, and Bree lets Andrew know she will not abandon him like she did Beth. Then they host their own AA meeting at his place.

Elsewhere, Glenn, a friend of Carlos, offers Tom the position of CFO at his company. It’s an upgrade, but Tom doesn’t want to abandon Carlos at the kickoff of the busy season. Lynette does a sexy stewardess play act to get Tom attracted to the CFO life. Tom asks Carlos to match Glenn’s proposal. Carlos could only offer a car allowance, the title of Chief Marketing Officer, and a profit share at the end of their yearly statement.

Lynette knows that Carlos pockets all the profits for himself and the title is bogus. In order to convince Carlos to be more generous, Lynette and Tom test drive a $76,000 Lotus and park it at the Solis house. It works, but Tom actually decides to take the offer from Glenn. How else can he afford to buy a Lotus?
