Demi Lovato Joins 'Glee' Cast

Demi Lovato Joins 'Glee' Cast In one prong of what's sure to be a multi-pronged marketing effort, Demi Lovato will join the cast of "Glee" for several episodes of the series' upcoming fifth season. Lovato, who is already a member of the judging panel on "The X Factor," will play a friend of Rachel Berry on the Fox musical series.

TVLine reports that Lovato will appear in at least episodes of "Glee" beginning on Oct. 3. Her character will be a singer who is a friend of Rachel and Santana and who is struggling to get her career going in New York. The character will also reportedly be linked with that of former "American Idol" contestant Adam Lambert.

Lovato will help build synergy within Fox's Thursday-night line up, where "The X Factor"'s results show will air immediately before "Glee."

Lambert's role on the show is less clear. There is no word yet on how many episodes will include him, but the link between his character and Lovato's NYC-based character suggests at least that he will not be part of the Lima, Ohio-based cast.

Lovato's debut episode will be the second part of a two-episode tribute to the Beatles entitled "Love Love Love." The anticipated tribute episode for the late Cory Monteith will likely air the following week, on Oct. 10.
