Demi Lovato Goes to War Over Sugar-Free Cookies

Demi Lovato attacked an LA forzen yogurt shop on Instagram this week. The pop star says her trauma from a history of eating disorders was triggered when she had to walk past a rack of sugar-free cookies on her way to the counter to order yogurt. She was outraged, and she wanted her followers to know it. She later walked back her rage. Read on for details.

Anybody have “Demi Lovato feuding with a frozen yogurt place” on their 2021 bingo card?

The singer, 28, is still going strong in her clash with LA froyo shop The Bigg Chill, now accusing the small business of gaslighting her.

“This screams diet culture and I won’t be gaslit by the media or anyone else that says otherwise,” Lovato posted to her Instagram Story on Monday alongside a shot of Eat Me Guilt Free snacks sold at The Bigg Chill.

“I don’t need to feel guilt free about eating anything,” she continued. “This is what I was talking about and this is directly from their own page.”

Lovato, who has been candid about her years-long battle with bulimia, first blasted The Bigg Chill for carrying sugar-free varieties earlier this week, saying it was “triggering” to see as a woman recovering from an eating disorder. She did not clarify, however, why the products were a trigger.

The shop’s owners defended themselves on Instagram, writing, “We carry items for Diabetics, Celiac disease, Vegan and of course have many indulgent items as well.”

“We are not diet vultures,” they added in a direct message to Lovato that she posted for her 102 million Instagram followers to see. “We cater to all of our customers needs for the past 36 years. We are sorry you found this offensive.”
