The movie, Trust, was given a rating of R because of its content, and Schwimmer had been hoping to get the classification softened. The movie stars English actor Clive Owen and Catherine Keener.

The movie is due out in theatres from the start of April next year, and is a movie that highlights the dangers of online predators, which is something that many parents with children that use the Internet have become increasingly concerned about over recent years.

According to reports the movie was given its R rating as a result of "disturbing material involving the rape of a teen, language, sexual content and some violence."

Millennium Entertainment, which is the distributor for the movie, filed the appeal to get the movie reclassified, but the Motion Picture Association of America decided to uphold its original decision to give the movie an R rating because of the nature of the content.

Schwimmer has said, however, that he has no intention of toning down the movie in order to get it reclassified.

Officials involved with the movie have said that the very nature of the movie means that it is important that teenagers are able to see it so that they can be warned of the dangers of online predators, but the R rating means that many will not be able to view the movie legally because of their age.
