Daniel Radcliffe Will Appear as Igor in 'Frankenstein'

As his “Harry Potter” co-star Emma Watson considers portraying the lead in “Cinderella,” Daniel Radcliffe’s creative career seems to be going in an uglier direction.

Radcliffe will be playing lab assistant Igor in an upcoming “Frankenstein” adaptation. He was in talks for the role last September, and now more information about the gothic flick is coming to light.

The role of Igor is said to be “pathologically dirty, with long hair, and wearing old clown clothes.” The film will focus more on following the life of the hunch-backed sidekick rather than Frankenstein or his monster.

The film is a period piece, and there will be some circus involvement. “Chronicle” writer Max Landis has established a script, and it will be directed by “Lucky Number Slevin’s” Paul McGuigan.

Landis explains that within the story, he tries to give audiences a fresh look at a well-known story.

“I began to pick apart our knowledge of Frankenstein and discovered that the public's idea of this myth comes from a million different places… I became committed to recontextualizing it all so it all worked in one story. By the end of the day, yeah, it’s a period piece, yes it’s from Igor’s perspective, but man, it’s cool… it’s the best thing I’ve written,” he gushes.

Radcliffe will begin filming in the fall after completing “Cripple of Inishmaan.”

He also starred in “Kill Your Darlings,” which was featured in the Sundance Film Festival, and will appear in the upcoming horror “Horns,” as well as romantic comedy “The F Word."
