Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Many Others Renewed on CW
by EG
The CW made a lot of producers, actors, crew and fans happy this week when it renewed 11 series for another season. The mass renewals include not only the series that have been performing well for the network, but its lowest-rated series, as well. All of the returning series means that the network's schedule for the coming year will be overflowing from start to finish.
The renewed series include all of the network's DC-Comics-based shows, including Arrow, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash, and it also includes the network's slate of paranormall-themed programs, including iZombie, The Vampire Diaries and, of course, Supernatural. Somewhat of a surprise was the renewal of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, the series that consistently was at the back of the pack, ratings-wise, for the network. In fact, no series that aired on the CW last year failed to get picked up for at least one more season.
Given that the network plans to add a few new series to its line-up next season, there's no way that all of the programming will fit into the schedule at any one time. The solution is to rotate series so that the network features new original programming throughout the year, a strategy that the CW's leadership says it's committed to.
