The CW Cans 'Cult'
by Zack WellsThose of you tuning into The CW on Friday may have noticed something missing. The CW has announced that they are pulling “Cult” from the air mid-season.
It is not too shocking if you have been following the crime slash thriller show from its premiere. After only two weeks of airtime, The CW sneakily moved the show from its Tuesday night hot spot into its Friday night death slot. After that, it was only a matter of time before they pulled the plug.
Well, the show is no longer suffering as the plug has been pulled. It lasted a total of 7 episodes. But “Cult” is not gone for good. There’s still the remainder of the season that’s already be filmed.
What is to happen with the remaining episodes, you may ask? The CW has yet to announce anything officially, but it is wildly believed that they will put the remaining episodes on their website.
Filling the show’s time slot will be reruns of “Oh Sit!” and “The Carrie Diaries”.
What lead the show to this fate? Well, it was a combination of many things. Mainly, horrible ratings (pulling in fewer than 1 million viewers, which is horrible by television standards). Another nail in its coffin was poor marketing and less than decent reviews.
It is entirely possible that the show was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, featuring a slightly similar premise to the hit show “The Following”, and maybe The CW would revive it based on its internet performance. But it is far too early to tell.
If you are one of the few fans of the show, keep checking the “Cult” page here on Yidio for any future updates, including the links to watch the remaining episodes when and if they are released!
