Critics Hate Batman v Superman, Fans Don't

As Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice prepares to become the biggest hit movie of 2016 so far, the film is having to contend with some pretty nasty reviews from critics. Whether or not the critical naysayers will have much of an impact on the film's box-office performance remains to be seen.
As of Thursday morning, before the film has officially debuted in North America, the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes had the film's "fresh" rating at 32%, meaning that less than a third of the professional critics included in the site's statistics had given Batman v Superman a positive review. Critics seem to agree that although the film has some exciting moments, the movie is, overall, a bit of a mess that fails to satisfy.
In comparison, Marvel's The Avengers has a 92% fresh rating, and its sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, has a 75% fresh rating. The most recent superhero blockbuster, Deadpool, has an 84% fresh rating.
Critical disasters don't always turn into financial disasters, though, and it's worth noting that Batman v Superman has a 79% positive rating from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes. Those viewers, for the most part, have not yet seen the movie, however, so put stock in that rating at your own risk.
